\/>\n\u305d\u308c\u3092\u771f\u4f3c\u3066\u3001\u30b3\u30d4\u30fc\u3059\u308b\u3068\u3044\u3046\u306e\u306f\u3001\u5728\u308b\u610f\u5473\u3067\u306f\u5b66\u7fd2\u306e\u521d\u6b69\u3067\u3082\u3042\u308a\u307e\u3059\u3002<br dir=\"ltr\">\u305d\u306e\u5f8c\u306e\u53c2\u52a0\u8005\u306e\u6240\u4f5c\u3001\u4f5c\u6cd5\u3001\u793c\u6cd5\u3078\u306e\u773c\u5dee\u3057\u3082\u771f\u5263\u306a\u3082\u306e\u3068\u306a\u308a\u3001\u52d5\u4f5c\u3082\u3088\u304f\u306a\u308a\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<br \/>\n\u305d\u3057\u3066\u7d50\u679c\u7684\u306b\u3001\u6280\u6cd5\u306b\u5bfe\u3057\u3066\u3082\u3088\u308a\u7d30\u304b\u3044\u90e8\u5206\u306b\u6ce8\u610f\u3059\u308b\u3088\u3046\u306b\u306a\u308a\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n<p arts. The core purpose of martial arts is to become stronger. If one wishes to refine their manners and etiquette, they should study formal protocols such as those of the Imagawa-ryu, Ogasawara-ryu, or Ise-ryu schools(*).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">*The three major schools of etiquette in samurai culture, representing the quintessential samurai ceremonial practices. Of these, only the Ogasawara-ryu remains today.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Of course, governance within the training hall is necessary in martial arts, and there must be a unified standard of etiquette, manners, and ceremonial practices to ensure smooth training. Discrepancies in these areas can disrupt practice.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">However, Tenshinryu differs in its approach. While becoming stronger is a given, Tenshinryu teachings encompass many techniques rooted in the roles, rituals, and daily life of samurai society. In actual duties or ceremonies, understanding the etiquette of a samurai is crucial, as it is deeply intertwined with the techniques themselves.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The phrase &#8220;In the nine forms of etiquette lies the ultimate secret,&#8221; attributed to Yagyu Munenori and passed down in Tenshinryu, not only embodies a sense of spirituality but also strongly reflects the design philosophy of Tenshinryu.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Yet, few practitioners successfully internalize proper etiquette, manners, and ceremonial practices during training. One major reason is the limited time dedicated to these aspects. However, an even greater issue is the mindset that dismisses them as unimportant.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;It\u2019s not directly related to the techniques&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;We don\u2019t use this nowadays&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;It\u2019s not interesting&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;It\u2019s too much trouble to learn&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">There is no shortage of excuses for not engaging in these practices.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">At a previous seminar, I explained it as follows:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Etiquette, manners, and ceremonial practices are more defined and straightforward compared to techniques. In a sense, imitating and copying them serves as an elementary form of learning. If one cannot replicate these clear steps and movements, how could they possibly imitate more complex techniques?<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Following this explanation, the participants&#8217; attitudes toward etiquette, manners, and ceremonial practices became more serious, and their movements improved. Consequently, they also paid more attention to the finer details of the techniques.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We are always underestimating some aspect of our skills. These overlooked areas collectively lower the overall quality of our techniques. Even when one approaches training with meticulous care, humans are inherently incapable of fully engaging with information in an entirely neutral manner. This imbalance and inconsistency give rise to weakness.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">This remains true no matter how much one improves. The more one learns, grows, and masters, the more important it becomes to recognize one\u2019s own shortcomings.
